Network
Promotion
Network promotion, in
terms of promoting your own networking group, can take many forms. You can become involved in the
network promotion campaigns designed to attract more members or create a
network promotion that spotlights the efforts of the association as a
whole. A typical network
promotion of this sort will take the form of an event designed to be a
benefit to the community. A Network Promotion Can
Benefit the Community
A network promotion
can take the form of a rewards program arranged by your association with
local schools for high achieving students. Members in the association can
contribute products and services as awards. If your network is
composed entirely by members of one profession, a network promotion can
center on a particular theme.
For instance, in one small town, a network of dentists volunteers
their services at local clinics and high schools. A restaurant and bar owners
association has a network promotion that sponsors a Taxi service to pick
up intoxicated patrons. A rather unique form
of network promotion grew from scratch when a boat broker from a small
town decided to organize every vendor, broker and participant in the
marine industry into a networking group dedicated to promoting boating and
water sports. They developed
two network promotion campaigns by establishing annual regattas and also
by funding an apprentice marine tech program at local vocational schools
to encourage young teens to get into the boating industry. An association of
professionals, by their very nature, has something to offer their
community, which in turn, gains each respective member more
visibility. A network
promotion can be as simple as talking to elected officials in your town to
see if members of your association can be of service. One such network
promotion conducted by an association of recreational suppliers took the
form of providing materials (tents, cooking stoves, sports gear) and
financing a teen retreat each summer for troubled urban teens. Another network of entrepreneurs
developed a network promotion that created summer job opportunities for
urban kids. Network Promotion Provides
Exposure for Every Member
In one town an
association of trainers, gym owners and sports equipment vendors created a
network promotion that sponsors an annual marathon, with many of their
trainers offering their services free to help train new and overweight
runners to compete in the marathon. A network, as an entity, can become very visible and gain exposure by using their combined talents and resources to impact or serve the community they live in. |
